Clear Stack.

A small studio, by design.

Five senior engineers and a small bench. We don't grow by hiring; we grow by deepening the relationships we already have.

Founded as CodeTheory.

We started as CodeTheory in 2014 — building production Rails applications for companies who needed them to last. As the practice and the client list grew, we rebranded to ClearStack.

§ IV · What we believe

Five principles, that shape the work.

i. Senior engineers, not seats.

A small, stable team beats a rotating bench every time. We don't grow by hiring; we grow by deepening relationships.

ii. Discipline, not ceremony.

Small commits, continuous deploys, feature flags, observability. Tests at every layer; code review for craft, not gating.

iii. Ownership is collective.

Engineers talk to stakeholders. No siloed handoffs. Every team member has an equal part in the project's success.

iv. Evidence before opinion.

Observability is first-class — production behavior tells us what to build next. Most issues are caught before users do.

v. The box stays open.

Visibility into progress, code, and decisions is the default — not a special request, not a quarterly review.
